We Are Moving Optimistically Forward!
Dear Friend of The Redemption Project,
Since our last message, our nation and our world have continued to change rapidly. However, some things haven’t changed, like our commitment to fighting recidivism by finding meaningful employment for our program participants—and for good reason. We believe our mission is becoming more and more critical each day as newly released inmates aren’t just facing the “normal” challenges to meaningful employment they once did. They’re facing an employment landscape not seen since The Great Depression. Fortunately, The Redemption Project is ready to help!
Although we are still unable to reenter federal and state prisons due to COVID-19, over the past 2 months we’ve been hard at work recruiting mentor and employment partners, staying in contact with our program participants, increasing membership in the Minnesota First Step Business Coalition, and having virtual meetings with multiple Chamber of Commerce organizations throughout Minnesota. These meetings, in particular, have been very positive and have led to an influential employment partnership with HyVee in Marshall, MN. Finally, we’re excited to announce that The Redemption Project has had a bill introduced in the Minnesota State Legislature! More details about this incredible development can be found further down in this email.
The work of The Redemption Project moves optimistically forward, however, like many nonprofits, we have had to make difficult cuts to our small yet driven team of contractors who keep TRP running. These team members write grants, find new donors and partners, teach our curriculum, create our marketing materials, and update our website. They’re each essential to meeting the profound challenge ahead of us as we help motivated individuals find and navigate employment upon release from prison in an unprecedented time.
The Redemption Project has always gratefully relied on the wonderful support of individuals like you, but now we need it more than ever. Your help keeps us helping those we serve. Please consider donating today!
Wishing you and your loved ones good health and safety,
Tim Owens, President
